Amateur Inc.
Audio Amateur Inc.
is the publisher of Multimedia Manufacturer, as well
as audioXpress, and Voice Coil magazines.
We have been publishing magazines, directories, and books on audio
for over 35 years. Internationally recognized for the quality, scope,
and detail of its editorial, the company's publications provide
a forum for advancing the art and science of audio design and construction.
Serving the build-it-yourself audio constructor as well as those
working in the industry, Audio Amateur Inc. is the authority on
audio technology.
Ed Dell, editor, publisher, and
company founder, began publishing The Audio Amateur
as a quarterly in 1970. His mission then was to provide quality
projects for those who find deep satisfaction from crafting electronics
and speakers with their hands. What developed over the next 35 years
was the building of an author-base of over 700. Technically superior
to the "review" publications, Audio Electronics
(formerly Audio Amateur), and subsequent spinoff magazines, Speaker
Builder, and Glass Audio provided a forum
for some of the best known names in the world of audio design. Sporting
contributions by industry experts including Erno Borbely, Nelson
Pass, Joseph D'Appolito, and even Mir astronaut, Norman Thagard,
the pages of Dell's publications have served generations of audio
constructors, designers, and enthusiasts.Combined into a single
monthly publication in January 2001, audioXpress magazine
today continues this legacy.
The mission remains clearto support
and nurture, to educate and entertain, to delight and challenge
the current audio constructor as well as encourage the enthusiast
of the future. Providing content in all areas of audio (mimicking
the original Audio Amateur), audioXpress provides a wealth
of information, projects, and reviews every month.Along with the
audio enthusiast, Audio Amateur Inc. also serves the audio industry.
The monthly periodical, Voice Coil,
addresses the needs and interests of those engaged in loudspeaker
manufacturing. Along with two annual directories, The Loudspeaker
Industry Sourcebook and The World Tube Directory
assist those working in the world of audio.
Furthering the needs of this ever-changing
industry, in January 2004 Audio Amateur Inc. launched Multimedia
Manufacturer, a publication specifically devoted to the
issues, challenges, and successes in audio/video manufacturing today.
Free to qualified industry readers worldwide, Multimedia Manufacturer
will present regular columns, articles, and special features on
topics ranging from materials and supplies to company profiles.
With over 50 books (originals and
reprints of classic volumes) Audio Amateur Inc. has published many
important works on audio. From the 6th edition of The Loudspeaker
Design Cookbook to D'Appolito's Testing Loudspeakers
to The Beginner's Guide to Tube Audio Design and Ray
Alden's Speaker Building 201, our books provide a
